日本語International membrane consortium on research and education strives for sustainable and carbon-neutral societies
The Research Center for Advanced Membrane Technology has established an international consortium, the Membrane International Consortium on Research and Education, to promote membrane research on a global scale. Currently, 15 world-renowned membrane research facilities are participating in the consortium and conducting research and development on the following three interdisciplinary research topics related to membrane technology.
- Water treatment membranes: Membranes for a variety of applications with practical applications on an industrial scale in water purification and filtration. This research is expected to contribute to resolving the world’s water shortage.
- Gas separation membranes: Development of membranes that can separate carbon dioxide, one of the causes of global warming, in order to save carbon dioxide.
- Organic solvent separation membranes: These membranes are expected to contribute to the realization of a carbon-neutral society because they are economically efficient and consume less energy than separation methods based on distillation.
We will continue to expand the consortium and strengthen its activities to address global environmental issues through the practical application of these membrane technologies.
